Vikes pounds Blackhawks at home

It was an offensive explosion in the second half for the Decorah boys’ basketball team (1-0, 0-0 NEIC) Tuesday as the Vikes defeated Prairie du Chien (0-1) at home, 71-37.
Decorah struggled early and trailed 12-10 after the first eight minutes. However, things came together in the second, with the Vikings outscoring the visitors 19-9 for a halftime advantage of 29-21. The firepower continued in the third with Decorah going up 47-25 with eight minutes remaining.

   “We were pleased with how hard the boys played tonight, we need to clean up a few areas, but we have confidence in our guys that they will make the necessary adjustments and continue to improve,” said Coach Jonathan Carlson.
   Ben Bockman led the Vikings with 22 points, while Matthew Bockman poured in 20. Also in double figures was Tate Johnson with 11 points.
   Decorah hosts Western Dubuque Epworth Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m., then hits the road to Center Point-Urbana for its third non-conference contest of the week at 5 p.m.
