Vikes runner-up at Invite

A trio of talented teams took to the links at Oneota Golf and Country Club Thursday as the Decorah boys’ golf team hosted an invite.
The Vikings finished the day in second with 373 strokes, behind Clear Lake’s 329. Crestwood golfers were also on the course, firing a total of 391.
Eric Ritter of Clear Lake shot a six-over par 78 on the par-72 course to win the medal. Fellow Clear Lake linkster Easton DeVries was the runner-up with an 80.
For Decorah it was Jackson Knoke leading the way with an 89. Fashioning a 92 for the Vikings was Ethan Holthaus, while Ben Bockman was a stroke back with 93. Lane Rolfs’ 99 rounded out the scorecard for Decorah. Baylor Bohr carded a 100, with Jonathon Egan touring the course with a 106.
Decorah had a junior varsity squad on the course, finishing five strokes at 406 behind Clear Lake’s JV. Playing for JV were Brody Hanson, 96; Nolan Jostand, 102; Gavin Stortz, 102; Cale Donlon, 106; Shlok Patel, 111; Casey Brickley, 116; Alex McGohan, 112; Brock Christensen, 127; and Lincoln Robinson, 132.
The Vikes were at Waukon Monday. Today, Tuesday, April 20, they host South Winn and Turkey Valley at Silvercrest Golf and Country Club at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 22, they host Oelwein and Oneota Golf and Country Club at 4 p.m.
