Vikes shut down Cadets in NEIC action

Despite trailing in the first quarter, the Decorah boys’ basketball team (8-5, 4-3 NEIC) came out on top of Crestwood (10-5, 2-5 NEIC) Friday night, 85-57, in Cresco.
The Cadets pulled out front of the Vikings 16-15 after the first quarter but would never lead again as Decorah’s offense came together in the second. By halftime, the Vikes had opened up a 37-17 advantage that would hold throughout the second half.

   With three Vikes in double-digit scoring, Decorah was led by Ben Bockman. The senior put up a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds to go with five assists. Matthew Bockman drained 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds with five assists. Also in double figures with 12 points was Tate Johnson.
   Decorah will travel to Denver Tuesday, Jan. 24, for a non-conference contest, then host New Hampton Friday, Jan. 27.
