Getting out of their comfort zone of courses in northeast Iowa, the Decorah boys’ golf team were in action at the Pella Masters Friday and Saturday, April 15-16.
Playing without several key members of the team, the Vikings were in 10th place at day one with a score of 408. Sophomore Ben Bockman had fired an 89 to sit in 20th place as an individual. Back on the course Saturday morning, Decorah had a better lay of the land and shaved off 20 strokes from the previous day for a 388 score; however, their two-day tally of 796 had them finishing 10th.
Firing a two-day tally of 650 was Indianola for the team title, while Waverly-Shell Rock was two-strokes back with 652 in second.
The Vikes will be at Winona Thursday, April 21, at 2:30 p.m., then hit the links in Charles City Friday, April 22, at 4 p.m. Monday, April 25, Decorah will play in Cresco.
