Individually, Knaack was a two-time champion, winning the 100-yard free in 50.63 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.79. Kutz also won gold in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:02.07. Rounding out the gold-winning individual performances was Bigalk in the 500-yard freestyle. He touched the wall in 5:27.26.
“It is not every day that you get to compete in a pool built pre-World War II, only has four lanes, and 20 yards long. I thought we swam well as a team,” said Coach Loran Storts. “I allowed the boys to pick some events they had not swam this year to keep their minds and bodies fresh.”
The Vikings are at the Waterloo Invite Saturday, Jan. 7, at 12 p.m.
