The Decorah girls’ soccer team (5-12) concluded a string of away games Monday in Denver. The Vikings wrapped up their regular season play against the Cyclones, coming away with a loss at 0-2.
Each team held strong, but it was the Denver defense that kept Decorah off the scoreboard for the full 80 minutes of play. The Cyclones didn’t allow the Vikings to get a single shot off on the goal, and connected two of their own, scoring once in each half. Decorah goalkeeper Grace Bachelder certainly did her part to keep the scoring down, as she walked away with a stunning sixteen saves while in the net.
“Our girls need to really put forth their best effort in our next (playoff) game if we’re to have any chance of advancing to the second round of playoffs,” Coach Loren Hendrickson said.
As Coach Hendrickson mentioned, this game against Denver was the last of the 2022 regular season, and they’ll head down to Marion to start playoffs. They’ll take to the pitch against the Wolves (5-8) on Friday, May 20, at 5 p.m.
