Still perfect in NEIC
Making the short trek to Waukon, the Vikings remained undefeated Thursday, defeating the Indians (1-4, 0-3 NEIC), 14-9.
After Decorah scored the first run of the game, Waukon responded by plating five runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Vikes retaliated by batting through the order in the top of the second to score eight runs. Scraping away at Decorah’s advantage, the Indians put up one in the third and three in the fourth to knot the score 9-9. However, that would be the end of Waukon’s threat as the Vikes put up another five unanswered runs to win the game.
Bryar Duwe led the offensive charge with three doubles and a single to drive in two runs. Ellie Luzum also had a double with two RBI. Lillian Olson had four RBI. Clara Hjelle collected the win on the mound with four Ks.

First tourney
Decorah took part in its first tournament of the season at Marion Saturday, falling to Marion (6-5) and Anamosa (3-5).
It took an extra inning for Marion to defeat the Vikings. The two squads kept the score even in the opening inning, 2-2. Decorah plated an extra run in the fourth and held the slim advantage until the bottom of the seventh when Marion forced the game to go an extra inning. The Vikes managed to push one run across home plate; however, it was the Wolves coming away with two for the 5-4 victory.
Anamosa utilized a couple big innings to shorten Decorah’s second game, 12-2 in five innings, as Lauren Luzum was the lone Viking to collect a hit in the contest.
