Vikings compete in NEIC tourney

Decorah made the short trek to the Waukon Golf and Country Club Monday to compete in the annual Northeast Iowa Conference tournament, finishing fifth.
New Hampton and Waverly-Shell Rock ran away with the championship tying at 406. Charles City came in third with 494, followed by Crestwood with 510. The Vikes finished the day with 550 and Waukon had no team score.

Medalist of the meet was New Hampton freshman Lauren Nuss with rounds of 47 and 45 for a 18-hole total of 92.
The Vikes were led by Elora Schnitzler’s 127 (64-63). Not far behind with a 130 was Sophia Fahey (70-60), along with Hope Stahl (64-68-132). Shelby Hageman (79-82-161) filled up Decorah’s scorecard, while Ella Carlson also toured the course with a 177 (88-89).
Decorah hosts Charles City in the regular season finale Friday, May 13, at Oneota Golf Course and Country Club at 4 p.m. Regionals will take place at All Vets Course in Clear Lake Wednesday, May 18, at 10 a.m.
