Vikings hit links for final time

By Becky Walz,

The Decorah girls’ golf team played their final golf meet of the season at Waverly Golf Course Monday in Class 3A Region 5 action. The 12-team regional final sends the top two teams to the state tournament as well as the top six individuals and ties.
When the day concluded, the Vikings finished in 12th place, however they did shoot a score that was 21 strokes lower than their average for the season. Decorah had its four seniors on the course with the lone sophomore out of state for a personal commitment.
Annika Lensch paced Decorah with 109 strokes, while Lexie Hauber toured the course with a 125. Jane Murphy was just a few strokes back with 129. Brooke Norby closed out the team score with a 132.
“Our scores weren’t as good this year as we would’ve liked to have seen but I do feel very good about the fact that our girls played with integrity and represented us very well for the entire season!” said Coach Scott Pierce.
