Vikings open season at NH

The season got underway Monday for the Decorah boys golf team as the Vikes traveled to New Hampton to take on the Chickasaws. Playing 18 holes, Decorah fell to the host 355 to 323.
New Hampton swept the medalist honors with Jack Shawver taking the top spot with a 76, followed by Kyle Glenn who carded a 79.
Decorah’s Ben Bockman was third individual overall with an 82 on the par 72 course. Other Viking scores were Lane Rolfs, 87; Jackson Pipho, 90; Jack Kroke, 96; Jon Egen, 99; and Andrew Olson, 118;
The Viking junior varsity fell just short, 183 to 185, in the nine holes played. The low score for Decorah was Hunter Quandahl who tied for medalist with a 42.
The next action for the Vikes is Thursday, April 13, as they host the Decorah Invite at Oneota Golf Course at 1 p.m.
