The Decorah boys’ basketball team (10-1) put another tally in the win column Saturday, hosting Center Point-Urbana (3-8) and calming the Stormin’ Pointers, 67-52.
“This was a physical game in which our guys did what they needed to do to get the win. We still have some areas that need growth and we will continue to improve with each game,” said Coach Jonathan Carlson.
The Vikes were the first to swish the ball through the net and they never looked back, finishing the first period on top 15-10. Decorah stretched the lead to 10 at halftime, 34-24. In the second half, CPU worked to cut into the Viking lead to no avail.
Pacing the Vikings with 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists was Carson Wemark. Joe Bockman drained 13 points to go with six boards and four assists. Two other Vikes were in double figures with 12 points apiece — Trey McCain and Ben Bockman.
Decorah will be back on the home hardwood Friday, Jan. 21, versus Crestwood. The Vikings also host South Winn Saturday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m.
