The Decorah wrestling team had a busy slate over the weekend, with a conference dual and a tournament.
Conference dual
After the storms blew through Wednesday and the power was restored in northeast Iowa, Decorah made the short trip to Waukon Thursday night, defeating the Indians 48-33.
It was eight wins, with seven throws for the Vikes. Starting at 138 pounds, Brady Stille threw 2:48 over Karmeron Boots, followed by Holten Palmer pinning Lucas Byrnes in 1:32 at 145 pounds. Austin Wilkins put Ashoton Wohlfeil on his back in 55 seconds for the win at 160 pounds. Brody Hanson kept the pins coming at 170 pounds in 2:42 over Riley Burington. It was another throw for Corbyn Palmer at 195 pounds in 59 seconds over Mason Kelly. Kollin Henry (113) got in on the pin action with a fall in 1:17 over Ethan Gibbs. Wrapping up the throws in 1:53 was 132-pound Lane Rolfs. Ben Wymer received a forfeit for Decorah’s final win.
In girls’ action, Decorah won all 11 of its matches. Nine of the wins were by fall, with another a forfeit and one by injury default. Chloe Sheffield pinned Mia Kurth in 1:15 at 106 pounds. Rorie Wiedow and Anya Lovstuen each faced off against Faith Cooper at 106 pounds with both Lady Vikes throwing Cooper. R. Wiedow needed 1:34, while Lovstuen had Cooper on her back in 17 seconds. At 138 pounds, Ashley Bjork and Madison Heim put Ava Bossom on her back. Bjork pinned Bossom in 1:09 and Heim earned the pin in 53 seconds. Mairi Sessions (160) and Camielle Wiedow (160) dominated their matches versus Reagan Lubahn with Sessions pinning Lubahn in 1:38 and C. Wiedow throwing her in 3:04. C. Wiedow moved up to 182 later and tossed Kloe Hemmersbach in 1:59. Riley Wilson (182) did the same to Hemmersbach, putting her shoulders to the mat in 2:13.

Across the state
Saturday, the Vikes traveled across the state to compete in the Don Miller Invite in Fort Dodge.
Decorah competed hard, finished seventh with 79.5 points. Creston won the tourney title with 195.5 points.
The best finish for any grappler was fifth. Four Vikes finished in that position including Kollin Henry (113 pounds), Brady Stille (138), Holten Palmer (145) and Austin Wilkins (160).

Decorah will be on the mats one more time before the holiday break, taking on some out-of-state teams in Caledonia, Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 5 p.m.
