Following a slow start to the week, the Decorah baseball team (7-3, 5-1 NEIC) closed out last week with a trio of wins over North Fayette Valley and New Hampton.

Big first inning
One inning and the Wednesday’s game was pretty much over between the Vikes and North Fayette Valley (2-5. 1-3 UIC) as Decorah routed the TigerHawks 17-2.
The Vikings took advantage of five walks and multiple hits in the first frame to tally 10 runs as they batted through the order. Decorah padded its lead with three runs in the second and third frames before allowing NFV to score two in the fourth. One additional tally in the fourth put the game away on the 15-run mercy rule as Decorah claimed the victory.
Putting in four innings on the hill, Landon Kuennen picked up the win with two runs scored on three hits and struck out four batters.
Decorah had 10 hits in the contest, highlighted by four doubles by Noah Storts, Brady Stille, Jacob Pipho and Kaden Alstad.
