Postseason volleyball play begins next week for area teams.
Decorah is in Class 4A Region 6 and will host the first round Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. The opponent is Mason City. The winner will face Charles City, Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., in Charles City. The regional semifinalists will face off Tuesday, Oct. 25, in at 7 p.m., at the highest ranked team in the last IGHSAU rankings. Other regional opponents include Webster City, Fort Dodge and Western Dubuque.
South Winn is in Class 2A Region 5 and hosts Postville Monday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.. The winner will face Denver in Denver Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.. The winner will move to the regional semifinals Monday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in Denver. The regional final is Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m., with the site to be determined. Teams also in Region 5 include Aplington-Parkersburg, Central Springs, Clayton Ridge, MFL MarMac, Grundy Center, Lake Mills and Belmond-Klemme.
Turkey Valley is in Class 1A Region 6 and faces Edgewood-Colesburg in the first round Monday, Oct. 17, in Jackson Junction at 7 p.m. The winner faces the winner of North Linn/Maquoketa Valley Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., at North Linn. The regional semifinal is Monday, Oct. 24, at North Cedar at 7 p.m., with the regional final Wednesday, Oct. 26, at a location to be determined at 7 p.m. Other teams on TV’s side of the bracket are North Cedar, Midland, Starmont, Central Elkader, North Linn and Maquoketa Valley.
The state volleyball tournament runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 3, at the Xtream Arena in Coralville.
