Let the win streak continue.
The South Winn boys’ basketball team (3-0, 3-0 UIC) is off to quite a start to the 2023-24 season, picking up three wins in three games, including Tuesday night’s 71-18 victory over West Central (0-2, 0-2 UIC).
Playing on the road, the Warriors took control early on, going up 25-6 in the first period. South Winn continued the point production in the second, leading 46-12 at the break. With the game undoubtedly in hand, the Warriors held the Blue Devils to six points in the third and shut them out in the fourth.
“West Central was battling some injury issues, they were a little short-handed,” noted Coach Derek Taylor. “We were able to go in and create a lot of easy looks off of our press. The boys played hard and did what they needed to secure the win.”
Three sophomores led the scoring attack for the Warriors, led by Carson Streeter’s 22 points, six rebounds and five steals. Braiden Todd was also in double figures with 18 points, three boards and three steals, while Matson Winings dropped in nine points and grabbed three rebounds.
The Warriors will be at East Buchanan tonight (Thursday, Dec. 12), then compete in the annual Iowa-Minnesota Border Battle Saturday, Dec. 9, against Mabel-Canton at Luther College at 5:15 p.m.
