Warrior linksters fire past WC

By Becky Walz,

The win was impressive for the South Winn boys golf tea as many were playing a course they had never played on before. Combined with the powerful winds blowing and the 193 to 222 victory over West Central at Big Rock Country Club in Fayette was a big one. The Warrior girls were also on the course to gain experience as West Central has no girls competing in golf this season.
Medalist of the meet was West Central’s Brandon Cushion with a 44. Shaun Klimesh of South Winn came through one stroke back at 45 to be the runner-up.
Contributing to the final tally with a 48 was Brandon Frana, while Carson Wenthold came through with a 49. Fashioning 51s on the courses were Logan Baumler and Martin Horstman. Jordan Baumler toured the course with a 59.
“I think there’s a lot to take away from this meet, and a lot to learn and grow from. Shaun shooting in the mid-40s on a day like that really was an outstanding result,” said Coach Mike Wenthold.
Sydney Becker toured the course to finish with a 57. Carding a 58 was Katrina Hageman, while Ruthie Frana fashioned a 60. Brooke Steffans came through with a 67. Also on the course were Annie Ondrashek (73) and Hannah Pahl (78).
Monday, May 3, the Warriors hosted MFL MarMac and will golf at Jackson Heights Golf Course versus Turkey Valley tonight (Tuesday, May 4). The regular season will end at Guttenberg Thursday, May 6, against Clayton Ridge.
