Warrior volleyball still perfect in UIC

It was another busy week on the court for the South Winn volleyball team (7-16, 3-0 UIC) as the Warriors picked up their third conference win over Kee Thursday and competed at the annual Decorah tournament Saturday.
South Winn moved to 3-0 in UIC play with the three-set sweep over Kee High (0-10, 0-1 UIC) Thursday in Lansing. 
A big service run by Abby Wagner in the opening set got the momentum on the Warrior side early and it stayed with them the entire evening as South Winn won by set scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-13.

   “I felt we did a lot of good things this evening and that started with quality passing and setting to get our hitters the ball in ideal spots. I really liked our focus and demeanor coming off the big home win on Tuesday knowing we have to stay on course and make improvement each day,” said Coach Alex Smith.
   A combination of 20 aces and 28 kills made for a successful offensive night. Katrina Hageman had seven kills and seven digs to go with five aces on her 14-for-15 performance at the serving stripe. Morgan Kleve added five kills, two solo blocks, three digs and was 7-for-7 in serving with two aces. Leading the way defensively, Abby Wagner had 16 digs with three kills, one block and went 21-for-22 in serves with six aces.
   South Winn returns to action Tuesday hosting Clayton Ridge in JJV and JV at 4:30 p.m., followed by varsity action versus West Central at 7 p.m.
