After dropping its last five games, the South Winn baseball team (13-7, 11-3 UIC) got back in the win column Tuesday at home on senior night.

Senior night
Celebrating their seniors Tuesday, the Warriors hosted North Fayette Valley (11-10, 8-6 UIC) and broke the losing streak with a 12-5 win.
South Winn jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings with a big third inning. Keagen Streeter was dominant on the mound for four innings not allowing a hit. NFV made it interesting scoring five runs in the fifth inning as the Warriors had some miscues defensively. A strong relief outing out of Jordan Buchheit and some insurance runs late secured the win.
“Senior night is always a fun night on the field to celebrate our seniors in front of a big crowd. We did a lot of good things, but still failed to put together a full game defensively which has been our downfall as of late. Our pitchers did a great job and offensively we are starting show flashes of being comfortable from the top to bottom of the lineup,” said Coach Alex Smith.
The Warriors had 12 hits in the contest. Senior Evan Bushman was 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a double. K. Streeter also had two hits with a triple, while Jamie Kuennen pounded out three hits. Nick Holien had two hits, drove in three runs and stole two bases.

At Kee
The Warriors dropped two key conference games in New Albin on Monday evening while Kee (28-2, 15-0 UIC) remained undefeated.
The Warriors struck first in the run column in both games but a big inning by Kee, a six-run inning in the fourth in game one, and a seven-run inning in the third in game two, proved to be too much.
“We knew going in this was going to be a difficult matchup, especially coming off the stretch of games we had been playing over the past few days,” said Coach Smith.
Over the course of the two games, South Winn connected for just five hits.
