Warriors fall at Clarksville, 48-20

By Becky Walz,

A sluggish night offensive hurt the South Winn girls’ basketball team Monday night as the Warriors (3-7, 1-6 UIC) fell to Clarksville (8-2) on the road, 48-20.
Clarksville took the early 8-2 lead after the opening period and extended its lead over South Winn to 17-6 at the half. Continuing to play good defense, the Warriors kept the Indians in single digits in the third period, still trailing 27-10. Clarksville really pulled away in the fourth, putting up 23 points.
“We played good defense all night and hung in there until the fourth quarter when they got hot and hit a couple of threes to extend their lead. I saw some good positive plays in the second half of the game to build on,” Coach Justin Izer.
Morgan Kleve led the team with seven points and five rebounds. Josie Tieskoetter had five points and eight boards. Janessa Zweibahmer chipped in four points.
