Warriors move to 4-0 in UIC

The South Winn softball team (4-4, 4-0 UIC) picked up two conference wins to start the week.
Monday, the Warriors hosted West Central (1-8, 0-4 UIC), 8-4 and 11-1. It was a sweep for the Warriors with South Winn winning 8-4 and 11-1.
West Central had South Winn fans biting their nails with a 3-2 lead after the top of the third before the Warrior bats exploded. They put up six runs in the frame and nearly shut down the Blue Devil offense the rest of the game.

The South Winn softball team (4-4, 4-0 UIC) picked up two conference wins to start the week.
Monday, the Warriors hosted West Central (1-8, 0-4 UIC), 8-4 and 11-1. It was a sweep for the Warriors with South Winn winning 8-4 and 11-1.
West Central had South Winn fans biting their nails with a 3-2 lead after the top of the third before the Warrior bats exploded. They put up six runs in the frame and nearly shut down the Blue Devil offense the rest of the game.
Eryn Luzum claimed the win with eight strikeouts, while giving up three runs on three hits in four innings of work. Morgan Kleve threw in relief and rang up five batters.
At the plate, freshman Britney Hageman went 2-for-4 with a triple and double. Morgan Kriener, Kleve and Ella Willey also had hits.
In the second game, the Warriors won 11-1 in five innings. This time they scored six in the first, two in the third and three in the fourth to get the early victory.
This time it was Kleve getting the victory in the pitcher’s circle with two Ks with Abby Wagner throwing five innings and recording four strikeouts.
In the nightcap, South Winn tallied 11 hits. Hageman was 2-for-3 in this game with a double. Janessa Zweibahmer and Willey rapped out two singles apiece, along with Kriener and Lindsey Thuente.
The Warriors will step out of the conference Thursday, June 9, at Nashua-Plainfield comes to Calmar. South Winn will wrap up the busy week in a two-day tournament at Jesup Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11. Monday, June 13, the Warriors will back on their home field versus New Hampton at 7:30 p.m.
