Warriors’ season ends with No. 9 Osage

By Becky Walz,

The South Winn volleyball season came to an end on Wednesday evening facing Class 2A No. 9 and last year’s state championship team in Osage (26-9). The Green Devil offense came out strong and put a lot of pressure on the Warriors. The Warriors (11-20) fell in three straight sets — 10-25, 12-25 and 9-25.
In her final high school match, Janessa Zweibahmer led the team in kills with three on the evening while senior, Eryn Luzum produced 11 digs. Alison Heying dished out six assists.
“We knew we would be facing one of the best teams we seen all year, and I was proud of how we competed all night regardless of the score. We had played against a few other teams this season in a similar category and struggled to complete, and tonight we battled defensively and put some good offense swings together to match their level at times,” said Coach Alex Smith. “Thanks to our seven seniors for their efforts in the program over the past four year, and thanks to all of our supporters for following us season long. I’m excited about the progress we continue to make as a program.”
The Warriors will graduate seven seniors — Ruthie Frana, Emily Michels, Eryn Luzum, Jillianne Wangsness, Janessa Zweibahmer, Riley Meyer and Carly Meyer.
