Amid cooler temperatures and rain drops, area boys’ track and field teams competed at the Foster-Kiesau Relays in Postville Thursday night.
The Waukon Indians were crowned the champs with 174 points, winning seven events.
Warrior golds
The Warriors won three events during the meet.
Senior Toby Conway led the 3200-meter field to the finish line in10:56.67 for the only Warrior individual title.
The 4×100 relay of Zach Taylor, Evan Bushman, Sam Conway and Jacob Herold took gold in 45.31 seconds, as did the 4×200 quartet of Bushman, Herold, S. Conway and Dominic Sisneros in 1:35.99.
Isaiah Kruckman was the lone runner-up, stopping the clock at 5:06.98 in the 1600-meter run.
Six events claimed bronze. Sisneros was a two-time bronze medalist including the high jump (5’4”) and 400-meter hurdles (1:02.49), Cael Kuboushek in the 100-meter dash (11.64), Chance Adam in the 3200-meter run (11:08.17), shuttle hurdle relay (1:22.12), the 4×400 relay (4:11.74) and sprint medley (1:44.22).
Top Trojans
Earning three gold medals for Turkey Valley was Dylan Reicks. The junior took first in the 800-meter run in 2:19.57 and was a member of both the winning 4×800 and distance medley teams. He was joined by Ryan Franzen, Kalvin Langreck and Calvin Bodensteiner in the 4×800 to produce a time of 9:10.28. The distance medley quartet of Reicks, Marcus Herold, Langreck and Franzen broke the tape in 4:02.42 for the title.
Langreck added a silver medal to his evening, clearing 5 feet 6 inches in the high jump, while Bodensteiner claimed third in the 400-meter dash in 59.56 seconds.
Other area highlights
Winning three medals each for Waukon were Braxton Stewart and Creed Welch. Winning the high jump at 5 feet 10 inches, 110-meter high hurdles and anchoring the 4×400 relay was Stewart. Welch dominated the long jump at 20 feet ½ inch, as well as the 400-meter dash in 52.68 seconds. He too was a member of the winning 4×400 relay with Pat Hennessy and John O’Neill. The Indians also saw Lincoln Snitker win the shot put with a throw of 47 feet even.
MFL MarMac’s Karter Decker was a three-time gold medalist, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.24 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 22.30 seconds and anchoring the sprint medley. The relay of Bryce Radloff, Cullen McShane, Colin Moses and Decker blazed to victory in 1:39.00.
