By the end of the first quarter, the Trojans had dug themselves a 17-10 hole; however, they managed to claw their way out of it by halftime as the score sat 31-29 in favor of Waukon. TV continued to scratch away at the Waukon advantage throughout the third frame, evening the score at 43-all with a minute remaining in the period. The Red and White eventually took the lead early in the final quarter but couldn’t hold it as the Indians hit the necessary shots down the stretch.
Coming off the pine, Oliver Schmitt had the hot hand with 16 points. Joining him in double figures was Dylan Reicks to go with his four rebounds. Garrett Kurtenbach just missed the double digits with nine points and came away with five boards and four assists. Under the rim, Calvin Bodensteiner claimed five rebounds, while Noah Hanson dished out seven assists.
This week the Trojans will be busy as they host MFL MarMac Tuesday, Jan. 11, then hit the road Thursday, Jan. 13, to Tripoli and Clayton Ridge Friday, Jan. 14.
