Decorah Police conducted a traffic stop May 28 at approximately 2:07 a.m. on the 700 block of Winneshiek Avenue. After investigation, the driver, Jacob Daniel Eastman, 45, of San Francisco, Calif., was arrested for operating while under the influence, 1st offense. Eastman was transported to the Winneshiek County Jail without incident.
Decorah Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 52 and Pole Line Road June 2 at approximately 2:23 a.m. After further investigation, the driver, 29-year-old Trevor Jordan Wangen of Harmony, Minn., was arrested for operating while under the influence, 1st offense. Wangen was transported to the Winneshiek County Jail without incident.
Winneshiek Sheriff
Leah Burns, 41, of Ridgeway, was arrested June 5, and transported from the Dubuque County Jail to the Winneshiek County Jail on an arrest warrant for violation of probation.
Nicholas Buchheit, 26, of Fort Atkinson, turned himself into the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office June 2, and was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on an arrest warrant for failure to serve jail time.
Tyler Wiltse, 19, of New Hampton, was arrested June 3 at 2:03 p.m. in Calmar, and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for operating while under the influence.
Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident May 31 on 155th Avenue. Richard Numedahl, 40, of Ossian, of was operating a 2005 Sterling LT9500 with a hopper loaded with silage. JJ Roos, 63, of Ossian, was riding in the passenger seat with Numedahl. Numedahl reportedly exited a farm field using a field drive to access 155th Avenue. Numedahl turned left out of the field drive to head north. Numedahl got too close to the shoulder on the east side of the road. There wasn’t much shoulder, and the road dropped to a steep ditch. It is possible, due to the weight of the truck, the shoulder gave out. The truck entered the east ditch and rolled onto its passenger side. Roos was driven by private vehicle to Winneshiek Medical Center emergency room for shoulder pain. According to the official report, the farm field, owned by Lance Tieskoetter of Castalia, may have experienced an estimated $1,000 in damage, depending on how the truck was towed the next afternoon. Attempts to recover silage were made. Damages to the vehicle Numedahl was driving were estimated at $40,000.
Dale Lepa, 60, of Cresco, was cited for operating a non-registered vehicle following an accident on County Road B33 June 28. Lepa was driving a motorcycle west on B33 when it hit a patch of gravel on the roadway, causing the driver to lose control and enter the ditch. Upon entering the ditch, Lepa was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to the Cresco Hospital for suspected injuries. Damages totaled $3,000 to the motorcycle.
Tyler Bullerman, 20, of Decorah, was cited for failure to maintain control, possession/purchase of alcohol by person 18/19/20, 1st offense, and for failure to use safety belts following an accident June 28 on 270th Avenue. Bullerman was reportedly driving a 2017 GMC Sierra pick-up north on 270th Avenue. He became distracted using his cell phone as he approached the intersection with Pole Line Road. He lost control of the vehicle, entering the east ditch. The side or curtain airbags were deployed when he entered the ditch. The vehicle became stuck in water/mud. Bullerman fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. Bullerman later made admission to consuming alcohol prior to the accident, possessing alcohol in the cooler(s) in the bed of the truck, not wearing his safety belt and being distracted at the time of the accident. Damages to his vehicle were estimated at $5,000.
