The Decorah boys and girls track teams got a chance to see competition again Tuesday, March 22, as they participated in the Northeast Iowa Conference indoor meet at Luther College.

Coming up golden
The Viking girls had four events stand atop the medal stand at the end of the night with a trio of silvers.
Lani Hubka was one of two individual champions. She took first in the 55-meter dash, cruising to a win in 7.64 seconds. Chloe Reiser took the shot put title with a throw of 37 feet, 8 inches.
The 4×200 relay of Hayley Stowe, Brinley Krivachek, Sydney Kipp and Autumn Schaller broke the tap in 1:53.69. Capping off the night with gold was the 4×400 relay. Teaming up for a time of 4:20.22 were Sami Mount, Hubka, Krivachek and Madison Tollefson.
Earning runner-up finishes for Decorah were Brielle Buresh in the 200-meter dash in 27.84 seconds, Brynn Storhoff in the 1500-meter run in 5:37.72 and Kallie Mincks in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.58 seconds.

Three golds
The boys had three events take first place and four others come up in the silver spot.
Senior Joseph Hjelle was the champion of the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 6 inches. 
Haywood Stowe was a two-time gold winner, breaking the tape in the 55-meter dash in 6.59 seconds and came away with a second-place leap in the long jump at 19 feet, 9.25 inches. He also won the 4×200 relay along with Austin Wilkins, Gavin Groux and Kelley Gates in 1:35.91.
Crossing with silver in the 400-meter dash in 53.91 seconds was senior Bennett Schutte, while Dakota Johnson was second in the 55-meter hurdles (36”) in 8.41 seconds.
Two relays also received silver including the 4×800 and distance medley. Teaming up in the 4×800 relay were Schutte, Hogan Smith, Cade Olson and Thomas Hammel for a time of 8:49.83.

Coming up
The girls’ will return to action Saturday, April 2, at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids in a meet hosted by Cedar Rapids Jefferson at 10 a.m.
