Five golds, team title for Decorah girls

After nearly a week off from competitions, the Decorah girls’ track and field team were back on the oval at Waukon Tuesday night, winning the team title with 183 points.
“It was good to get back to competition. We challenged the kids tonight and they rose to the challenge,” said co-coaches Cristy Nimrod and Brad Johansen.
When the night ended the Vikings had collected five gold medals.
Lani Hubka was a two-time individual champion, winning the 100-meter dash in 12.77 seconds and the 400-meter dash in 1:03.13. In the other individual sprint event, it was Brielle Buresh breaking the tape in 27.05 seconds.
Two relays sprinted to victory. The 4×100 quartet of Brinley Krivachek, Bella Knutson, Kailyn O’Gara and Hubka combined for a time of 52.63. The weight person 4×100 also came home victorious. Producing a winning tine of 1:00.88 were Julia Alberts, Aanaiya Weston, Annaleissa Arnold and Chloe Reiser.
Decorah will conclude the regular season at the annual South Winn invite Monday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, the Vikings will host the Northeast Iowa Conference at 5 p.m.
