Competing against several larger schools, the Decorah girls track team showcased their talent at the Dubuque Senior Tri-State Invite Tuesday night.
Decorah secured 85.50 points to finish fourth. Wahlert Catholic took the crown with 133.50 points, followed by Western Dubuque with 104.5 points.
The Vikes couldn’t quite finish in the spotlight; however, Decorah did garner five second-place finishes.
In the field events, it was Aanaiya Weston securing the silver medal in the shot put, sending the weight 33 feet 10 inches.
Sydney Kipp and Bella Knutson were also individual runners-up. Kipp crossed the finish line in 1:07.19 in the 400-meter dash for silver, while Knutson posted a time of 17.16 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
Two relays also took second. Combining for a time of 1:11.52 in the shuttle hurdle relay for silver were Lani Hubka, Autumn Schaller, Anya Lovstuen and Knutson. In the 4×100 relay, Brinley Krivachek, Brielle Buresh, Kailyn O’Gara and Hubka stopped the clock in 51.34 seconds.
Taking third were Sam See in the 400-meter dash (1:07.75) and the 4×400 relay of Kallie Mincks, Ellie Luzum Sami Mount and Abby Halverson. (4.23.22).
At home tonight
Decorah hosts its own invitational tonight, Thursday, April 8, at 5 p.m. The Vikes are at Hudson Tuesday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m.
