Good day at the Luther All-American

Luther College hosted the All-American cross country meet Saturday, featuring junior high, high school and college races.
Locally, Decorah, South Winn and Turkey Valley took the course.

Varsity girls
The South Winn varsity girls finished eighth in the team standings with 261 points with an average time of 21:37. Decorah ended the day with 520 points in 22nd place with an average time of 23:11. Turkey Valley didn’t field a full varsity team. Dubuque Hempstead was the overall team champion with 65 points.
Zoie Dundon of Burnsville was the individual champion. Her time was 18:37.81.
Turkey Valley’s Jalyssa Blazek and South Winn’s Billie Wagner both finished in the top-10. Blazek cruised to a fifth-place finish in 19:14.43, while Wagner slipped into the 10th spot with a time of 19:45.12. Also competing for the Trojans was Cambree Kruse, crossing the finish line 115th in 23:21.06. Racing for the Warriors besides Wagner were Eryn Sabelka (34th, 20:57.82), Megan Hageman (64th, 21:58.91), Josie Tieskoetter (80th, 22:24.05), Karissa Wenthold (98th, 22:58.31) and Anna Dietzenbach (114th, 23:20.46).
Running for Decorah was Annalisa Skrade (89th, 22:32.64), Brynn Storhoff (103rd, 23:01.88), Abby Halverson (111th, 23:13.06), McKenzie Riley (128th, 23:32.50), Mairi Sessions (129th, 23:34.84) and Danielle Losen (132nd, 23:36.80).

Varsity boys
In the varsity boys’ race, Decorah came in eighth with 241 points, just three points away from Champlin Park. Onalaska was the team champion with 38 points. South Winn and Turkey Valley didn’t field a varsity boys’ team. The Vikes had an average time of 18:21.
The individual champion was Onalaska’s Manny Putz in 16:09.96.
Decorah was led by Izaak Eichinger who finished 33rd overall in a time of 17:59.19. Also touring the course for the Vikings were Arlo Hayes (40th, 18:07.84), Bennett Schutte (55th, 18:29.23), Henry Weis (57th, 18:31.27); Larsson Shockey (61st, 18:35.54), Landan Folkedahl (87th, 19:02.69) and Jake Magner (94th, 19:11.09).
Isaiah Kruckman was the lone Warrior on the course, finishing 13th overall in 17:17.95.

JV girls
The Decorah JV girls finished sixth with 196 points, while South Winn claimed 16th with 446 points. Dubuque Hempstead took first with 31 points.
Adding to the team score for the Vikes were Elsa Johnson, 34th, 23:15.38; Grace Brynsaas, 41st, 23:38.74; Lily Sandhorst, 44th, 23:44.00; Kamryn Steines, 45th, 23:44.08; and Kathryn Kelly, 50th, 24:03.84.
Leading the way for the Warriors were Ella Willey, 53rd, 24:09.73; Josie Tollefsrud, 131st, 26:23.47; Izzy Kuboushek, 134th, 26:25.90; and Kira Ellingson, 214th, 28:58.42.
Trojans on the course were Hailey Elsbernd and Alayna Kuennen. Elsbernd stopped the clock at 27:37.61 in 169th place overall, while Kuennen completed the race in 35:12.49 in 282nd place.

JV boys
Decorah’s JV boys’ team earned third as a team with 69 points. South Winn came in 13th with 357 points, while Turkey Valley had just two runners compete. Iowa City Liberty was the team champion with 27 points.
Scoring for Decorah were Cade Olson, eighth, 18:59.09; Davis Coppola, ninth, 19:00.11; Grant Zilka, 10th, 19:02.61; D’mitry Lesser, 17th, 19:27.23; and Landyn Hook, 26th, 19:35.73.
Highlights for South Winn were Ethan Maldonado, 15th, 19:13.29; Kyle Hageman, 90th, 21:23.38; Dayten Ondrashek, 114th, 21:51.56; Hunter Wagner, 125th, 21:58.54; and John Donovan, 142nd, 22:16.70.
Dale Schwamman and Lucas Hanson were on the course for the Trojans. Schwamman came home 78th overall in 21:00.84, while Hanson finished 164th overall in 22:46.22.
