Kruckman breaks the tape, SW girls first at Central

The South Winn boys and girls cross country teams were out on the course Thursday, competing at Central. The topped-ranked Warrior girls led the field of six for the title with 47 points, while the boys finished third with 76 points. 

Gold medal winner
The South Winn boys toured the course with an average time of 19:34.0 and a spread of 3:23.4.
Senior Isaiah Kruckman blazed through the course to a time of 17:35.2, earning the individual title. Omar Flores crossed the finish line sixth in 18:52.7. Sprinting to the finish line in 19:25.8 was Ethan Maldonado, good for 14th place, while Hunter Wagner finished in 20:57.5 in 27th place. On Wagner’s heels was Kyle Hageman in 28th place, concluding the team score with a time of 20:58.6. 
Also on the course for the Warriors were John Donovan, 36th, 22:27.1; Dawson Wenthold, 37th, 22:38.0; Chase Adam, 54th, 22:58.9; Abe Conway, 70th, 24:53.7; Kaden Barton, 75th, 25:12.7; and Max Moonen, 97th, 29:21.0.

At the top
The Lady Warriors topped the field, averaging 23:06.4 with a spread of 2:26.2.
Leading the way for the girls was Billie Wagner in 21:45.3, taking silver to Class 1A No. 1 Haley Meyer of Kee who broke the tape in 21:00.6. Josie Tieskoetter was the second Warrior to cross the finish line in seventh place, clocking in at 23:01.1. Anna Dietzenbach worked her way into 10th place in a time of 23:13.7. Freshman Karissa Wenthold was 11th in 23:20.4, while Ella Willey completed the team score in 17th. She had a time of 24:11.5.
Others on the course for the girls’ team were Josie Tollefsrud, 27th, 26:28.2; Isabella Kuboushek, 32nd, 27:23.3; Grace Zweibohmer, 55th, 29:34.6; Kira Ellingson, 58th, 29:55.5; and Quinn Kruckman, 69th, 33:17.0.

A week off
South Winn has more than a week off before competing at Anamosa Saturday, Sept. 25, at 9 a.m.
