By Becky Walz,
It was another night of solid progress for the Turkey Valley track teams Thursday night at the Kee High Invite.
The Lady Trojans finished at the top of the five-team field with 116 points, one point ahead of Kee High. In the boys’ team race, TV came up one-point shy of claiming the title with 86 points as Clayton Ridge reigned above the rest with 87.
Highlights in girls’ events
With the final tally coming down to one point, both Turkey Valley and Kee found multiple success Thursday. The Trojans crowned six champions, while the Hawks claimed seven golds.
Headlining TV’s efforts in the field events was senior Aleah Hackman in the shot put, sending the weight 31 feet 9 inches for gold. Jalyssa Blazek (2:24.51) edged Kee’s Haley Meyer (2:24.52) at the line of the 800-meter run, as the pair turned in the two fastest times in Class 1A.
The Trojans took first in four relays. TV opened the night by breaking the tape in the sprint medley relay in 1:58.58. A little later the 4×800 quartet blazed the track to win in 11:17.30, over a minute faster than second place. In the 4×200 relay the Trojans teamed up for a winning time of 1:57.83. The successful night was capped off by the 4×100 crossing the finish line first in 54.23 seconds.
