Relays golden for Trojan boys

Getting to compete Thursday, the Trojans traveled to Guttenberg to take part in the Clayton Ridge Invite and finished fourth with 113.50 points. The Eagles won their own meet with 151 points. Friday’s meet at Starmont was cancelled due to weather conditions.
Turkey Valley scored big points in the relay events, winning five of the seven.

Carson Busta, Chase Hayek, Marcus Herold and Noah Hanson kicked things off in the opening event — the sprint medley. The Trojan quartet won by over a second in 1:41.20. The 4×800 followed suit with a seven-second victory. Winning gold in 9:21.15 were Burka Busta, Ryan Franzen, Hayek and Dylan Reicks.
It was then the distance medley’s turn to turn in the top performance in 4:0.07. Members of the winning team were C. Busta, Hanson, B. Busta and Franzen. 
As the evening finished, the 4×100 and 4×400 relays capped off the night with gold. With a winning time of 47.64 seconds were C. Busta, Hanson, Troy Schmitt and Franzen. Breaking the tape in the 4×400 were Herold, Hayek, B. Busta and Reicks with a time of 3:48.97.
Monday, the Trojans competed at the South Winn invite in the final regular meet of the season. Turkey Valley will join in the Upper Iowa Conference meet Thursday, May 5, at Postville beginning at 4 p.m.
