With the season winding down, the South Winn girls’ and boys’ track teams posted another strong night on the oval Thursday night at Crestwood.
The boys finished second with 140.50 points; Crestwood garnered 180 points. The Lady Warriors posted 80.50 points to take third. Claiming the girls’ team title was Osage with 169 points, while New Hampton was the runner-up with 137 points.
Highlights for the girls
The South Winn girls had two events finish first. Emmaleigh Ohrt was the discus champion. She won the day with a throw of 113 feet 6 inches. Billie Wagner stopped the clock first in the 1500-meter run in 5:13.69.
Two relays claimed silver. The 4×800 relay of Josie Tieskoetter, Megan Hageman, Bi. Wagner and Eryn Sabelka were edged at the line by Crestwood, finishing in 10:27.02. The 4×100 quartet of Emma Houdek, Sabelka, Bi. Wagner and Hannah Franzen won silver in 54.43 seconds.
Tops for the boys
The boys had five events take the top spot. At the top of the list was junior Ethan Timp. He claimed the shot put title with a throw of 41 feet 11 inches. Chance Adam went around the track four times to win the 1600-meter run in 5:00.06 to come out on top.
Three relays claimed gold. In the sprint medley, anchor Evan Bushman blew by the New Hampton runner in the final 100 meters to give South Winn the victory. Joining Bushman in the relay were Ethan Luzum, Cael Kuboushek and Sam Conway posting a time of 1:42.82. Later in the 4×200, it was Bushman, Kuboushek, S. Conway and Jacob Herold breaking the tape in 1:34.42. The night was capped off with a winning 4×100 time of 44.95 seconds. Members of the winning relay were Zach Taylor, Bushman, S. Conway and Herold.
