The Decorah girls swim and dive team seized its third conference title in a row at the conclusion of Saturday’s meet held at Luther College.
The Vikings totaled 350 points points to secure the top team spot, with NCMP Aquagirls finishing second with 321.
In addition, Rebecca Bruening was named to the all-academic team.
Decorah nabbed gold in five events which began with Julia Alberts touching the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle. Her winning time was 2:01.11. Paige Werner was the second Viking to win individual gold, posting a time of 5:42.35 in the 500-yard freestyle to be crowned the champion. A third individual title was won by Maeley Nefzger in 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.84.
Two relays were also champions — the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle. Alberts, Nefzger, Katerina Kovarik and Werner combined on both for gold. In the shorter relay, the quartet posted a time of 1:42.31 and finished the final relay, and the day, in 347.86.
Four other events were runners-up including Kovarik in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:23.30 and the 100-yard breast in 1:14.97. Also winning individual silver medals was Werner in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.26 seconds and Alberts in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.38 seconds.
