Getting one last meet in before the postseason begins, the Decorah swim and dive team had a good performance Tuesday in a triangular with Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids Jefferson in Cedar Falls. Decorah edged out Cedar Rapids Jefferson 99 to 86 and fell to Cedar Falls 135 to 51.
The Vikings had just one gold medal that came in the 1-meter diving event. Kailyn O’Gara earned 190.05 points to claim the top spot.
Four other events took silver, while two more grabbed bronze. Julia Alberts touched the wall in 2:06.35 in the 200-yard freestyle for runner-up. Paige Werner brought home both a second and a third-place individual finish. The senior was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.48 seconds and posted a time of 58.75 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, good for third.
The 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays each took silver as well. Werner, Maeley Nefzger, Katerina Kovarik and Alberts were members of both relays. In the shorter event, the quartet had a time of 1:48.38, in the longer event in 3:58.88, and finished the night in second. Nefzger won individual bronze in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.71.
Decorah will host the conference meet Saturday, Oct. 15, at Luther College at noon.
