Viking results
Six Decorah girls’ events took the gold spot at the meet. Chloe Reiser picked up the individual first in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet 0.25 inches.
Lani Hubka was a two-time individual winner. She bested the field in the 200-meter dash in 27.03 seconds, edging out teammate Sami Mount. Hubka also sprinted to the finish line first in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.66 seconds.
Also taking an individual top spot was junior Rebecca Anderson breaking the tape in the 800-meter run 4.5 seconds ahead of Holmen’s Anabella Filips.
Two relays came in first place. The 4×200 of Brielle Buresh, Sydney Kipp, Kallie Mincks and Hayley Stowe took first in 1:54.73, three seconds ahead of Kee High’s runner-up effort.
Sami Mount, Hubka, Madison Tollefson and Anderson combined talents in the distance medley to win in 4:34.85, a one-second victory over Kee High.
The Viking boys also had four events claim first place.
Senior Joseph Hjelle heaved the shot put 51 feet six inches to win the event over South Winn’s Lane Quandahl who launched the weight 44 feet 1.5 inches.
Winning the only other individual event was Dakota Johnson in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.86 seconds.
The 4×400 quartet of Haywood Stowe, Kaiden Quandahl, Bennett Schutte and Trey McCain ran away from the competition, winning by almost nine seconds over Onalaska.
Stowe, Ben Wymer, McCain and Schutte put up a winning time of 3:50.10 in the distance medley relay. Crossing the finishing line second over 20 seconds back was Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau.
Two golds for SW
The Warriors girls returned to Calmar with two titles, while the boys came up just short in several events.
Individually, it was Billie Wagner clinching the 1600-meter run in the only sub-six-minute time. The junior broke the tape in 5:43.51, while the second-place runner from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau crossed the finish line in 6:00.42.
