Warrior boys runner-up at TigerHawk Invite, girls fifth

On one of the better nights for racing this far into the season, the South Winn girls’ and boys’ track teams competed in West Union at the North Fayette Valley Co-Ed Invite Friday.
In team scores, the SW girls finished fifth overall with 76 points. The hosts were in fourth with 99 points, while Waukon took the team crown with 116 points.
The Warrior boys were the team runners-up with 108 points behind Clear Lake who had 182. The TigerHawks finished the night with 92 points in fourth place.

Solid night
The Lady Warriors had one individual and two relays take first.
On her own, Billie Wagner was the champion of the 3,000-meter run in 11:36.00.
Bi. Wagner combined with Emma Houdek, Becca Wagner and Eryn Sabelka in the distance medley for a time of 4:41.80. Bi. Wagner was the anchor of the 4×400 relay as well. Along with Sabelka, Be. Wagner and Josie Tieskoetter, the Warriors won the event in 4:31.24.
The sprint medley quartet of Houdek, Hannah Franzen, Be. Wagner and Sabelka raced into the second place in 2:01.43.

Taking the gold
The SW boys two events break the tape and one finish with a silver medal.
Evan Bushman, Cael Kuboushek, Sam Conway and Jacob Herold combined in the 4×200 to take first in 1:35.76. In the 4×100 it was Zach Taylor busting out of the blocks to win gold with Bushman, S. Conway and Herold in 44.71 seconds.
In the distance medley, Taylor, Logan Hageman, Dominic Sisneros and Toby Conway finished second in 4:01.91.
